Style At Home features Charles Rupert Designs Wallpaper!

Charles Rupert Design's "Pink & Rose" wallpaper - designed by William Morris in 1890 - has been featured in Style at Home magazine and on House & Garden TV's Pure Design television show.

Samantha Pynn, Design Editor for Style At Home magazine, and host for "Pure Design" on House & Garden TV, chose this fresh wallpaper for the redesign of a classic 1920's English Tudor home. The wallpaper was coupled with an ivory white paint on the trim and wainscoting and a matching green on the french doors for a modern with a traditional twist take in this lovely older home.

The wallpaper has the look and feel of a hand-blocked paper, and is made of real paper (and not vinyl) that is produced from sustainably managed forests. Applied with traditional wheat or cellulose paste, this wallpaper is not only elegant, but eco-friendly as well.

The "Pink & Rose" wallpaper comes in four colourways.

Charles Rupert's William Morris wallpapers in Elle!
Recognizing Good Design and Eco-friendly wallpapers!
May issue 2008

Elle magazine's  "The Green Issue" (May 2008)  has featured Charles Rupert Designs as one of
"Our four favorite decorating faithfuls" which "just happen to be low-impact standard-bearers" in the Eco-friendly stakes.

Elle writes: "Charles Rupert's wallpapers have always valued a planet-friendly style that never sacrifices the styles that William Morris designed.  As opposed to most wallpapers made with formaldehyde and vinyl, (toxic and fumy), many of Charles Rupert's are 100 percent paper, with water-based inks and coatings."

William Morris' wallpaper design "Bird and Anemone" designed in 1882 and exclusive to Charles Rupert Designs in three colourways - is printed with water-based inks on actual wall paper (not vinyl) from managed forests, and is installed with either traditional wheat paste or cellulose paste, both traditional and environmentally friendly adhesives. (And after years of enjoying a beautiful design on your walls, when the time comes, this paper can be recycled)

Charles Rupert Designs' wallpapers are marked with an "Eco-friendly wallpaper" logo:

Launching "The Garden Collection" - Part One

Charles Rupert Designs is pleased to launch Part One of "The Garden Collection". Four new wallpapers and three fabrics make up Part One of the collection, which will be added to in 2008.

These designs are exclusive to Charles Rupert Designs, and are available to our designers through our Showroom representation, or through Charles Rupert directly in areas where Showrooms have yet to be appointed.

Two William Morris designs - "Wild Tulip" from 1884; and Bird & Anemone from 1882 - have been reprinted, using archival documents for both the design and some colourways.

For the first time Charles Rupert Designs is introducing three fabrics. Three printed cotton fabrics co-ordinate with three of the colourways of "Wild Tulip" and are finely printed in delicate colours to add a timeless appeal to today's interiors. More fabrics are planned in the next year.

"Bird & Anemone" wallpaper comes in three tone-on-tone colourways, including a document Cream on Yellow colourway.

"Chelsea Damask" is a large-scale, floral pattern in three colourways, ranging from subtle to bold, which will add a dramatic presence to a grand room or a feature wall.

"Aberdeen Ferns" is a lush, gilded 1890 design of a forest floor of ferns and flowers for a special room, or a heritage house.

Charles Rupert Designs continues its mission to provide the best in historic designs that will add character and colour to today's interiors.

For the complete range of new designs, please see the "Collections" link on the Charles Rupert Trade Site home page.

Spring Decorating Issues!

Country Home magazine has featured Charles Rupert Designs' exclusive wallpaper on the cover of their April 2007 issue, and on pages 110 and 111.

In their "green" issue, our green and cream "Pink & Rose" wallpaper - designed by William Morris in 1890 - is still made as it was 100 years ago on vintage printing machines. Made from formaldehyde-free paper from managed forests, and applied with environmentally sensitive wheat paste or cellulose paste, Charles Rupert's exclusive wallpapers are true papers, and not 'paper-backed vinyl'.

Style at Home magazine, in their March 2007 issue, has also featured "Pink & Rose" wallpaper, along with "Gothic Leaves", in their "Home & Style" column.

Style at Home called Charles Rupert Designs "a treasure trove of rare and historic wallpapers."

Walls, Windows & Floors magazine also showed Pink & Rose wallpaper in their Spring 2007 issue under the title "Wall Flowers". The magazine recommends adding "an artisanal touch to your room with a hand-blocked wallpaper - or one that looks hand blocked".

The vintage wallpaper printing machines that Charles Rupert Designs use ensure an unparalleled texture and historic accuracy in the final designs. Samples of "Pink & Rose" wallpaper may be obtained from your Trade Showroom.

World of Interiors magazine features 'Fleur de Lis & Rose' wallpaper!

In their regular 'Swatch' column, World of Interiors magazine from London, has included "Fleur de Lis & Rose' wallpaper - from Charles Rupert Designs' Historic Wallpapers Collection.

This wallpaper has been formed into the spire of a gothic country church, set against a landscape at dusk, illuminated by a hazy full moon.

This wallpaper was found in the Dining Room of the 1865 Ross Bay Villa in Canada. The design was based on a wallpaper from London's Palace of Westminster from 1850, though reduced in scale for domestic applications. Reproduced exactly from the original document, the wallpaper is now available for other gothic interiors.

Charles Rupert in Domino Magazine!

"I love wallpaper, all sorts. In my opinion, there are few things in the decorating world that delivers more bang for the buck that a roll of wallpaper delivers.

So imagine my delight upon learning that Charles Rupert Designs launched a Historic Wallpapers Collection. The 14 new designs date from 1865 to 1912 in 43 carefully researched colourways. They even produce the rolls on machines dating from the 1880's to the 1950's to ensure unparalleled textural and historical accuracy.

But most important is their look, understated and deftly executed in a stylish pallette to give them a timeless appeal, which means you do not have to be living in a Stickley house to take advantage of the inherent beauty found in many of the turn-of-the-century papers; a William Morris" Pink & Rose" can seem rather sophisticated paired with a modern decor. Trust me, I know my wallpaper."
